I’m drawn to painting everyday things – objects in my home, parts of the house, places I know. The sort of things which we are so familiar with we hardly give them a second glance. But when we do they sometimes turn out to be lovely or interesting or both. Sometimes it’s to do with the way that light falls on these things or places, sometimes it’s more about the framing so one’s attention is focused on them in a new way.
When I paint landscapes it’s usually because the place means a lot to me or because the light brings out some particular quality which catches my attention. But light is transitory and I don’t always move fast enough…..
I want to do a lot more painting outdoors this year so I need some good lightweight equipment and a lot more nerve!
Above are a few of my paintings.
