I completed my art foundation course at Banbury School of Art in 1976 and, more recently, returned to undertake a Fine Art degree. By contrast with my early work, when I focused on large, abstract expressionist-type paintings, I now specialize in portraits.
Generally using oils or charcoal, I tend to work quite freely – with individual marks that, despite being abstract, are informed by close observation. The whole results in a painterly approach which, nevertheless, captures my sitters’ characters.
My studio is near Oxford, UK. I have had work included in many exhibitions, and have obtained commissions within the UK and overseas.
