Bing Shi

Bing Shi was born in China, where he spent his childhood and early adulthood. Holding a PhD in Human Resource Management, he teaches at universities in that field. Despite his academic background, Bing’s true passion has always been art. He began oil painting in his late 40s, driven by an irresistible love for it.

From the outset, Bing focused primarily on portraiture. He is fascinated by the interplay of light and shadow, using these elements to express the complexity of human emotions and spirit.

In recent years, Bing has expanded his artistic repertoire to include landscapes, particularly urban and rural scenes. He is inspired by the traces of human activity within these environments.

Bing is also a full member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA). He exhibits with many other art societies at various galleries in recent years,  including the Royal Institute of Oil Painters (ROI)’s Annual Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, the RBSA’s Summer Show and Members and Associates Annual Exhibition, Bath Society of Artists’ annual open exhibition, and Chelsea Art Society’s open exhibition.
