Caroline Moore

I began painting full-time in 2020 after a career as an orthodontist and I completed a Diploma in Classical Drawing & Painting at Edinburgh Atelier of Fine Art in 2024.

I combine traditional techniques with contemporary themes and pigments to create chromatic, classically inspired oil paintings.

Each of my paintings is a careful exploration of composition, colour and form. I love the translucent quality of oil paint and by experimenting with different pigment mixes and coloured grounds, I aim to create luminous light-filled paintings.

Though loosely realistic, I hope my work allows viewers to engage on different levels. Subjects within any painting are more deeply observed than we manage in everyday life, and I enjoy playing with the concept of ‘value,’ reinterpreting the mundane or overlooked.

I am continuing to learn so much from each one of my paintings; I hope they provide a moment of joy to brighten your everyday.
