Christina Taylor-Smith

My work combines line and colour to evoke the rhythms and patterns found in both natural and man-made structures. The prints are distinguished by their rich texture and depth, achieved through the layering of lines that create a sense of density and rhythm, reminiscent of natural strata. In recent works, I have incorporated metal leaf to highlight the preciousness of nature, adding a reflective quality that interacts with light to enhance the visual experience. 


My artistic process is intuitive, focusing on capturing the essence of my subject with an awareness of the fragile and transient quality of a moment in time. The lines are interconnecting, easily broken, lost and found. The build-up of consecutive lines acquire a density and rhythm, which can be fragile, flowing, or appear like layers in strata.
