Jenny Fay

Jenny Fay is a portrait artist who trained at the Heatherley School of Fine Art in Chelsea where she was tutored by leading members of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. She completed the Portraiture Diploma in 2014 and was awarded the Heatherleys Portrait Diploma Prize. She now works from her studio in Goring on Thames where she undertakes portrait commissions from both private collectors and institutions.

Known principally for creating paintings with a rich palette of handmade oil paints, she is equally accomplished at producing charcoal portrait drawings which have great depth and sensitivity. Beyond portraiture Jenny explores an evocative series of interior scenes inspired by the work of the Danish painter Vilhelm Hammershøi, in which restricted palettes and precise compositions evoke stillness and a quiet atmosphere.

As well as exhibiting regularly with the Oxford Art Society, Jenny has exhibited in London and elsewhere in the UK, including the Walker Gallery in Liverpool. She has been shortlisted for the Jackson’s Painting Prize 2019, selected for the Ruth Borchard Prize Exhibition 2023 and shortlisted for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2025.
