Penelope Fulljames

Penelope lived and worked for most of her life in Spain. Penelope studied Sculpture at Portsmouth College of Art and then in Rome and Florence. Her drawings won prizes at college. She has been painting full time after raising her children in Spain.

 She has exhibited in numerous cities in Spain and has had three solo shows in London and been involved in various mixed shows. Her wildlife works are in collections worldwide, having been sold by Christies Wildlife Sales, South Kensington.

In the lockdown of 2020, she was staying with her family in Castile de la Mancha and started painting in Pastels for its ease of use in a makeshift studio. Her Pastels have been accepted by the Pastel Society UK for exhibition in the Mall Galleries, London. Since that period, she has a studio in the heart of one of the wildest areas of Spain and exhibits annually in the local Culture Centre.

 “My passion is for wilderness, nature, and its extremes, I paint places that humankind has not touched. For my inspiration I have travelled widely in Africa, the Mediterranean and Great Britain. I love painting in oils and paint large and small. I have been using pastels in the last two years as they allow me to travel and paint. I have been amazed at their versatility and how much depth they can bring. They are transforming my use of colour in the oil paintings. Each painting is a journey evolving until it is a “paradise” often very remote from the starting point. I call them works of fiction.”
