Profile picture

Many years ago I started out on a career as a medical laboratory technician and enjoyed the challenges of cutting edge clinical research for some years.

Since then, I’ve spent over 40 years painting mainly architecture and landscape in watercolours and more recently in oils.

I’ve been very fortunate in having numerous exhibitions in England, as well as one in both Tokyo and Cape Town. I’ve also illustrated a number of books, including Oxford Words and Watercolours; Consider England; a Visitor’s Book for the National Trust and numerous historical and guide books for Pitkin and other publishers. And in December 2022 a number of my paintings were used in a new publication titled  Jericho, Oxford .

In the early 2000's I worked with a team on the frescos in Waterperry house and also taught landscape painting at Art in Action for many years. Later I accepted a commission from HRH Sultan Nazrin Shah of Perak to paint over 70 watercolours of Worcester College.  Although the originals are now in the Sultan's palace in Perak they have  been published in a book titled Worcester Wanderings which is available in the college lodge.

Recently I’ve started sculpting the figure in clay which I’m loving, and also attempting some portraits in oils – at a certain age it’s a delight to be exploring new media and fresh subject matter and to be re-discovering something of a child’s love of creativity, free from reputation and expectation!
