Kate Hipkiss
I work with paper, cutting intricate designs by hand to create delicate, complex layers.
There are 2 strands to my work; the geological series explores pattern and colour in the landscape on a macro and micro level. I am especially interested in marks created by natural forces such as flowing water, or scars created by human activities; the shaping of our landscape over time.
The architectural series explores the qualities of cut and layered paper, the fall of light being central to the work and helping define the image.
I studied Visual Arts: Drawing at Camberwell College of Arts followed by an MFA in Fine Art at Oxford Brookes. I also have a PGCE in secondary Art and Design.
Kate is happy to accept commissions.
