Kathy Turner
While I am not Art School trained, I have come to painting through having the opportunity to attend many stimulating courses given by talented local Artists over a decade or more.
Landscapes known to me are often the source of my inspiration. I enjoy creating atmospheric images of parts of the country which have a particular resonance and association. Parts of Cornwall, The Lakes, North Wales and Derbyshire often feature in my paintings.
I enjoy experimenting with a variety of media: inks, charcoal, oil pastels, acrylic and watercolour paints. I like to experiment with creating texture within my work, often using collage, tissue and gesso.
Through these means I try to evoke a spirit of place with the careful choice of media and colour. I enjoy creating layers of paint that can then be scraped back to reveal hidden tones which surprise and delight. I blend aspects of the real with the imaginary and enjoy experimenting with unusual compositions.
I have exhibited with the OAS and I have participated in Oxford Art Weeks for several years.
Kathy is happy to accept commissions.
