Laurence Norman
I am a portrait painter, working from my studio based in the village of Brightwell Baldwin in rural Oxfordshire. I am a self-taught artist working in oils. My work is as much an exploration of colour and lighting as it is finding a likeness of my sitters. I am heavily influenced by contemporary portrait art as well as the use and exploration of colour seen in the impressionism and post impressionism periods.
I have been fortunate to exhibit as part of the Oxford Art Society Open Exhibition for the last 3 years running (2019-2021) and now a newly elected member of the society. In 2020 as part of the incredible Portraits for NHS Heroes movement created by Tom Croft I had one of my 4 portraits selected to be included as part of the Portraits for NHS Heroes book released by Bloomsbury Publishing. I am also a member of the Oxfordshire Artweeks and Watlington Artweeks.
