I went to art school many years ago but got disillusioned and left creativity behind. Years in unfulfilling jobs began to take its toll and for the sake of my mental health I began experimenting with paint. Years of stifled ideas came flooding out and this is where my first series of paintings began. 'Landscapes of the Mind' explored memories and feelings of my childhood in a dying northern milltown, They began as claustrophobic cubist townscapes and evolved into semi-abstract expressionist landscapes. I exhibited locally which led me to Oxford Art Society membership and nationally in group and solo shows.
Recently I have headed towards the figurative, with themes ranging from childhood bogeymen to domestic drudgery.
As well as creating my own work, I have been commissioned by private collectors for bespoke 'mindscape' paintings and also portraiture.
