Ron Ford
I am a contemporary artist, combining conceptual and traditional approaches in my art practice, which includes painting, installation, and film.
I like to work at the boundary of abstraction and figuration, which I hope allows the viewer freedom to respond emotionally to ambiguous narrative spaces. My working practice includes immersion in the landscape, primary research, intuitive use of materials (which have a mind of their own), and social engagement.
I am concerned about the fragile uncertainty of life, the perilous state of the environment and the nature of time and place.
I have been lucky to have work accepted regularly for exhibition in the UK over the last 20 years, including the RI, RWS, RWA and RSMA. I graduated from Falmouth University with an MA in Fine Art in 2012 and I have been a member of OAS since 2008. I am also a member of the xvi group of artists, and the Optics Group which was founded by friends of the late GJ Blockley.
