Ruth Swain is a portrait and figurative artist based in Oxfordshire, currently studying Contemporary Portraiture at the Art Academy. She works in oil, watercolour and pastel, painting mainly from life.
Having worked in London, Hong Kong and New York as an art director and illustrator, she uses visual stories and word play to inspire her work and create a dialogue between sitter and viewer.
Ruth won The Readers Award in Artists and Illustrators magazine (Artist of the year 2017). Her portraits have featured in the RBSA open exhibition 2017, OAS open in 2018 and 2019 and in the RIPW 2019.
She is happy to accept commissions.
