For all OAS Exhibitions

General Requirements

Oxford Art Society holds two exhibitions each year: a Members’ exhibition in the spring for existing members, and an Open exhibition in the autumn to which we welcome submissions of work from artists living within a 30 mile radius of Carfax, Oxford. You may submit up to 2 pieces of work for each exhibition. All work should have been completed within the last 3 years.

Submission Requirements

All work must initially be submitted online at which point you will receive your Unique Submission Number (USN) which you must use for all correspondence. If you do not receive the automated response to your entry by the following day, please check your spam mail and if not there, please contact the Website Manager.

All work must then be brought into the exhibition venue for selection by an invited panel of members and independent judges. The selection panel’s decision is final and the placement of work will be decided by the curators.

Make sure your digital entries are of good quality, straight, and do not include frames/mounts or unrelated backgrounds, as these may be used for the online catalogue and Instagram.

Images must be in JPG, JPEG or PNG format, no larger than 2000px in either direction, and under 2MB.

Accepted Media

Acceptable media: Oil, acrylic, watercolour, original prints, mixed media, drawing, pastel, ceramics, textiles, glass, collage and sculpture. Prints may be from a limited edition not exceeding 50. Photography, digital media and giclee prints are not accepted.

Submission Fees

Members £15, Non Members £18, per piece submitted.

All submissions are non-refundable.

Submission Procedure

Submission to the exhibition is a two-part process. All work must be entered online before being delivered in person for selection.

Please see the Schedule of Dates on the website for dates and times for the next exhibition.

Please make sure you are able to meet all these timings as we can only accept work that will be delivered/taken away within this timeframe.

Specific information on how to prepare your artwork for delivery is on the website, Delivery of Work. We reserve the right to reject work at the delivery stage if it is deemed to not meet the standards expected by OAS.

Please bring all your paperwork with USN number and labels to ensure a speedy check-in process.

Selection Results

Please make a note of your USN number, which will be on your online entry acknowledgment form, for use in all correspondence.

Results of the selection process will be posted on the OAS website by the evening of selection day (see Schedule of Dates).

All unselected work must be collected the following day (date and time on Schedule of Dates).

All exhibited and unsold work must be collected on the day and time specified on the Schedule of Dates.

Commission & Insurance

OAS will handle all sales during the exhibition and will receive a commission of 25%. No VAT will be levied by OAS.

Whilst every care will be taken of works entered, OAS accepts no responsibility for damage or theft of work submitted or exhibited. You are strongly advised to insure your work.
